The ultimate diet food

Oysters.

Yes that's right; virtually no fat and low in energy (less time on the treadmill!) and with more zinc than any other food and more iron than red meat.

They also have heaps of vitamins and minerals and gram for gram are better for you than white flesh fish.

Oysters can seem somewhat celebratory in nature, but don't wait, crack a few (dozen) open now as they are gorgeous at the moment.

Have a look inside?

  1. I have missed your snippets of wisdom Jack.
Unfortunately I struggle with oysters, but I get where you are going with this.

  2. Had some oysters at a friends last week and they were so plump. Great eating at present as you say.

Love them with little sausages or with pickled cucumber or simply tetsuyas dressing of grapeseed oil, rice wine vinegar, ginger.

We really get suckered into buying them at Christmas.

  3. I am scared of shucking them unfortunately. Hubbie cheats by chucking on the bbq till they explode open. I prefer them raw though.

where do you get yours from? We slightly overdid it on our last trip to tassie and hubbie hasnt recovered but i really really want some!

  4. Out in the West (Footscray) Conways have oysters that are under $10 per doz and if you buy them unshucked you usually get 14 or so to the doz. I have had them steamed too for an interesting variation.
